How Good Is Good Enough by Andy Stanley and published by Multnomah Books tackles the Question that most people aren’t willing to ask themselves or consider when it comes to God and getting into Heaven, How Good Is Good Enough?
Andy does an excellent job of dispelling the fallacies and and perceptions many of us have when it comes to the belief that being good will give us favor with God and get us our ticket to heaven. So how good is good enough? Andy states 6 problems with the “how good is good enough” argument, a couple of them are,
1. No one seems to be able to agree on the subject of what good is.
2. Our morals aren’t much help and tend to change as we get older.
The book goes on to let the reader know that there is only one totally fair and true way that will bring us into a proper relationship with God and get us to heaven, and that person is Jesus. So will you believe Jesus is who He said He is or take your chances on being good enough……The choice is yours.
An excellent resource for anyone you know who has a genuine interest in seeking the truth of who God is and how we can come to know Him.

Learn MoreRan across three interesting blog posts yesterday. One is about Alcohol http://jackalopekid.com/beer-anyone/, one about Happiness -vs- Holiness?? http://www.48days.com/2011/01/31/holiness-vs-happiness/, and another about Cussing, http://jackalopekid.com/cussing/. They are all subjects where Christians are opposed to one another, sometimes vehemently. Hard lines are drawn and the rebuttal’s begin to fly like to countries at war with one another.
I find it interesting and sad all at the same time. I am all for questioning and challenging our faith but the attitude and tone in which it is done it means everything. I also find it interesting and confusing, how we can all read the same bible and come up with seemingly completely different points of view. It seems to me that we are allowing the plethora of view points and talking heads to have more credibility and influence than we should.
What are we doing? What good does all of this do? Can we somehow look at these kind of exchanges as “iron sharping iron?” I don’t think so. What does it look like to the secular world? It looks to me like a bunch of bickering little kids. It doesn’t look any different than what “the world” does. We are in this world and of this world! Do these exchanges have a purpose? Maybe, but what? What are we trying to accomplish here?
Learn MoreThe Power Based Life by Mike Flynt
Do you, like me have questions about reaching your Goals and Dreams? Is there a pull, a belief that your called to do something far above and beyond anything you could ever believe? Do you have a big idea that you really want to see come to fruition?
The Power Based Life is another in a long line of books on the subject of using our personal gifts/talents in such a way that brings fulfillment to our lives and ultimately bring honor a glory to God.
Once again this book had the opportunity to be a whole lot more of the same old ideas and directions that are typically talked about in books on this topic, such as “what would I do that helps people and would still do if no one paid me”. Or “what makes your eyes light up”. Although there are certainly other quotes and similarities to many other books out there Mike has done an excellent job of packaging it in a different, compelling and engaging way that makes it seem fresh and new.
Mike shares his life experiences along with Gods word to give sound advice and encouragement on dreaming big and putting together a plan to reach those dreams. As the title reads he takes all aspects of our life, mind body and spirit and mixes them together to make a life of fulfillment and grace. He never paints a rosy or unrealistic picture of what it will take to get where we want to go but show us with the right attitude, motivation, goal setting, diet, exercise and many other facets we can live a life that brings meaning and purpose to our lives and those around us while bring honor and glory to God.
A mixture of John Maxwell, Zig Ziglar and Dan Miller all rolled into one excellent read. A must for anyone out there looking to put all the pieces together with Gods help to make an extraordinary and remarkable life.
